Coneixem el nom de les coses, a vegades, fins i tot exercim el poder de nomenar-les. A través de diferents situacions, l’exposició es convertix en un dispositiu de mediació que convida a la participació activa al públic i genera una sort de taller co-creatiu en el qual emergixen preguntes sobre l’autoria, la utilitat de l’art, l’educació o la intel·ligència artificial.
Luis Camnitzer (1937) és un artista uruguaià que viu a la ciutat de Nova York des de 1964. És professor emèrit de la State University of Nova York College en Old Westbury. Va representar a l’Uruguai en la 43a Biennal de Venècia en 1988 i ha exposat obres en diverses biennals, entre elles, diverses edicions de la Biennal de l’Havana, la Biennal de Whitney en 2000 i Documenta 11 en 2002. En 2018, una retrospectiva de la seua obra va ser presentada en el Museu Reina Sofia. Les seues obres són presents en la col·lecció de més de 45 museus i està representat per Alexander Gray Associates, de Nova York. Va ser curador pedagògic de la 6a Biennal del Mercosur (2007), Porto Alegre; i curador del Programa de Visualització, Drawing Center, Nova York. En 1999, va coorganitzar l’exposició Global Conceptualism: Points of Origin, 1950s–1980s en el Queens Museum, Nova York, juntament amb Jane Farver i Rachel Weiss.

(insert title here) is an exhibition by the artist Luis Camnitzer that brings together a selection of pieces created between 1967 and 2024 that reflect on the idea of naming as an exercise of appropriation. We know the names of things, sometimes we even exercise the power to name them. Through different situations, the exhibition becomes a mediating device that invites the active participation of the public and generates a sort of co-creative workshop in which questions emerge about authorship, the utility of art, education or artificial intelligence.
Luis Camnitzer (1937) is a Uruguayan artist who has lived in New York City since 1964. He is professor emeritus of the State University of New York College in Old Westbury. He represented Uruguay in the 43rd Venice Biennale in 1988 and has exhibited works in several biennials, including several editions of the Havana Biennial, the Whitney Biennial in 2000 and Documenta 11 in 2002. In 2018, a retrospective of his work was presented at the Queen Sofia Museum. His works are present in the collection of more than 45 museums and he is represented by Alexander Gray Associates, from New York. He was pedagogical curator of the 6th Mercosur Biennial (2007), Porto Alegre; and curator of the Visualization Program, Drawing Center, New York. In 1999, he co-organized the exhibition Global Conceptualism: Points of Origin, 1950s–1980s at the Queens Museum, New York, along with Jane Farver and Rachel Weiss.
