Hugh Steers, Door to Tub, 1993

Hugh Steers included in Every Moment Counts – AIDS and its Feelings, a group exhibition at the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter in Høvikodden, Norway.

The institution's press release follows:

As part of the 2022 Year of Queer Culture in Norway, the Henie Onstad is turning the spotlight on AIDS. AIDS hit the arts field particularly hard. In the 1980s, the AIDS movement laid the foundations for Queer Cultural Theory, and the issue remains a key topic for many artists. In 2022, it will be 50 years since sex between men was decriminalised in Norway.

The exhibition Every Moment Counts – AIDS and its Feelings harks back to 1993, when a major exhibition on the topic was presented at the Henie Onstad. This was one of the very first, and largest, exhibitions produced in Europe focusing on the topic of AIDS. The Henie Onstad is now revisiting the theme with a contemporary view and will once again discuss the topic of AIDS with a large-scale group exhibition presenting works from about 60 international artists.
