The Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC) has gifted forty-five works by thirty-three contemporary Latin American artists to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. The majority of the artists, who include Valeska Soares, Magdalena Fernández, and Fernanda Gomes, are Brazilian and Venezuelan. Other artists whose work is represented in the donation—such as Miguel Ángel Ríos, José Dávila, and Teresita Fernández—hail from Argentinia, Colombia, Mexico, and the United States.

The Reina Sofía’s efforts to diversify its holdings were also bolstered by the Miami-based real estate developer and collector Jorge M. Pérez, who donated around $1.5 million to the institution last week. Pérez’s gift included around fifty works by Spanish artists such as Cristina Iglesias, Luis Gordillo, Secundino Hernández, Nestor Sanmiguel Diest, and the late Darío Villalba, among others, that are valued at $1 million, as well as $500,000 for the acquisition of new works by Spanish and Latin American artists.
